I am under the philosophy we lose 100% of the opportunities we do not take. So I decided to enter this contest for fun. I do not feel I will win, but still worth it. So I entered the DoomsDay Diary Challenge that Vocal is running. Only a few more days to enter if you want to.
There was a long time that I was so lacking in confidence I never shared my writing. After many years of practicing and writing just for myself, I finally have the confidence to start sharing my work. That is how I came to publish a book, Love in Civil War, joined Vocal, and start posting things on sites such as Dreame.
Here is my entry DoomsDay Diary entry: https://vocal.media/fiction/what-remains-x37pnj0iuj
I would really appreciate it if you would give it a read. No pressure though, but just reading it supports my work! Very little effort from you and greatly appreciated.
The story is about a woman who is separated from her husband during an apocalypse scenario. She survives with help from her dogs and a will to live and see her husband. The biggest threat are those who are healthy, the human element. That is always the greatest threat when it comes to a dystopian landscape.
There is a slight chance I will grow this short story into a short novel. I find myself very inspired when I started writing this. I will be sure to keep all of you updated if that happens. I want to thank you all for your continued support in my writing journey.
